8 types of household plants that can benefit your health

Growing up, my grandmother used to buy houseplants to make her house more decorative and cozier. I didn't know that household plants have many benefits and different uses that can cure any health-related problems. Some house plants can make your environment better and can drastically change your mood. For me, I love house plants that help me with my stress level and laid-back personality.



Spider Plant: Spider plants are great for removing formaldehyde from the air in your home. Produces oxygen whilst purifying the air in your home and office by absorbing carbon monoxide, formaldehyde and xylene. Additionally, Spider Plants are non-toxic and are in fact edible, making them safe for pets and young children.


Aloe Vera: Contains healthful plant compounds. Antioxidant and antibacterial properties. Accelerates the healing of burns. ...Reduces dental plaque. Help treat canker sores. Reduces constipation. May improve skin and prevent wrinkles. It lowers blood sugar levels.

English Ivy: is effective at cleansing benzene, formaldehyde, xylene, and toluene from the air. Additionally, other studies have indicated that English Ivy also helps reduce mold in your home. This evergreen climbing vine is extremely popular in outdoor landscaping.


Snake Plant: cleans the air better than most other indoor plants as it has the ability to absorb excessive amounts of carbon monoxide. Additionally, it emits oxygen and filters other toxins from the air such as benzene, xylene, trichloroethylene, and formaldehyde.


Rosemary: are watered too little or too much. Make sure that the drainage on the container with the rosemary is excellent. Only water the soil when the top of the soil is dry to the touch. But, that being said, never let the soil dry out completely.


Peace Lily: is a beautiful plant and one that can improve your indoor air quality by as much as 60 percent. It helps to reduce the levels of mold spores that grow in the home by absorbing those spores through its leaves and them circulating them to the plant's roots where they are used as food.
