Art of Procrastination...

Growing up, my mom would tell me all the time about my procrastination. Throughout my life procrastination has been one of the biggest struggles in my personal life and career. Procrastination constantly makes you forget or put off things that you know that's important.

Procrastination is the avoidance of doing a task that needs to be accomplished by a certain deadline. It could be further stated as a habitual or intentional delay of starting or finishing a task despite knowing it might have negative consequences.

I've learned that there are four types of procrastinators. These types of procrastinators have special characteristics that make them unique but yet different. According to Nilis Salzagebar, Procrastination is sometimes called “the thief of time.” But it’s much more than that, isn’t it? Not only is it the thief of time, but it's also the perpetrator of evil, the killer of dreams, and the creator of endless problems.

Types of Procrastination...

Anxious procrastination

The acts or habit of procrastinating, or putting off or delaying, especially something requiring immediate attention: She was smart, but her constant procrastination led her to be late with almost every assignment.

Fun procrastination

They would rather be doing anything except that one dreaded task.

“Plenty of time” procrastination

This type of procrastination is clearly visible in students who often struggle to start an essay earlier than a few days before the deadline.

Perfectionist procrastination

This procrastinator is trying to avoid being embarrassed by mistakes or judged. They may spend too much time on one component of a project, failing to manage their time properly, or avoid the project altogether, then rush to finish it at the last minute. Of course, this may increase the likelihood of making mistakes.
